No makeup should be worn if having HIFU on the facial area.
It is important that you understand the treatment and before your treatment you will have a comprehensive consultation.
Please arrive for your treatment without makeup. At the beginning of the treatment a white pencil is used to precisely mark up the treatment area. To improve the comfort of the treatment ultra-sound gel is applied evenly over the area.
The top layer of your skin is not treated as the focussed ultrasonic energy penetrates through to the muscular level at 4.5 mm. After the treatment, you can simply go about your usual activities. The difference between HIFU and other in chair procedures is that the energy penetrates to varying preset levels – 4.5mm 3mm and 1.4mm , previously this was only achievable with surgery.
What can I expect to feel during the 3D HIFU procedure?
You may feel a little discomfort during an HIFU procedure. The energy is delivered in individual shots – and some people describe it as a pin prick feeling. Some people feel this more than others. Notably because of the precise nature of 3D Hifu it is more tolerable than the original machines.
Once the treatment is complete it is important to use a good moisturiser on the skin Whilst side effects are few the area may remain warm and red for aw few hours after the treatment. You will be given post treatment advice and it is important that you follow this in order to achieve the best results.
Post your procedure you need to ensure that you do not allow your skin to be exposed to excessive heat or cold. In addition use sun protection. You are able to apply make up directly after your treatment. Although do not apply products that contain retinols as this may cause irritation.
Tenderness, swelling and bruising can occasionally occur (although not common) in the areas treated. Bruising may not show for several days after the treatment and can appear yellow / green in colour. If bruising is to occur it is likely to be either on the jawline or the cheekbone.
Bruising does not always show – however the area may still be sensitive to touch – you may notice this when you are putting on make up or using a flannel Although this may be uncomfortable to the touch it will only be transient and will not effect drinking and eating .
