 3 D HIFU Surrey

Non-surgical skin lifting has become one of the most sought-after treatments on the market.
One of the most up to date technologies is 3D HIFU.When  using HIFU you only have to have a single visit, and it is a particularly good at treating, crows feet, jowls, and around the nose area. This newer type of machine delivers more effective results than original machines.

1.  Ability to target treatment more accurately
2. Higher level of Energy
3. 50% more energy delivering up to 10 lines of energy with each shot.
4. Quicker and better results.

The highly focused acoustic energy creates thermal coagulation zones at three different selected depths, following which a wound healing response results in the formation of new collagen, thus providing a long-term tightening of the skin. Generally a noticeable improvement in the client’s facial contouring fine lines and wrinkles will be visible within a four-week period.

What areas can benefit from HIFU

Because of the effectiveness of HIFU  treatment areas can include

  • Forehead frown lines
  • Eyebrows
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Cheeks
  • Double chins
  • Sagging neck

The flexibility of HIFU means that it can also be combined with other treatments such as
Radio Frequency
Cryogenic Lipolysis

In total the treatment takes 60 mins. Directly after the treatments, you will notice some skin tightening, these improvements continue during the next few weeks and months, this is because new collagen is being formed in the treated areas. In addition to this – the connective tissue matrix also tightens and reforms. Depending on diet and other external influences the results can last for up to 3 years. With 3D HIFU these results are apparent sooner.

Treatments can be repeated every 6 months until no further benefit can be achieved.  The number of treatments is a maximum of 2 in a one year period – however most clients will improvements after the first treatment. The effectiveness of the treatment will depend on the degree of tissue laxity and the patient’s goals.  The effectiveness will also be limited by the skin’s ability to rejuvenate – which can be enhanced with a healthy balance diet and correct supplementation.

The effect of a treatment will last three to six months. For longer-term results, we recommend a program of four treatments one every 3 months for 1 year and then a single treatment annually after this.

This is an ideal one-off treatment if you are planning a special occasion such as a wedding or holiday.

For most clients, HIFU is a relatively painless treatment.  As a non-surgical cosmetic procedure, it is comfortable and they can return to their normal activities immediately after a session.  Makeup can be applied the following day.

A small number of clients may experience some mild swelling or look mildly flushed, but if does occur it usually subsides within a few days. On rare occasions, clients may experience very slight blistering, or the appearance of slight bruising.

Clients may also experience a slight tenderness in the treated areas for next few days. The overall benefits of HIFU is only limited by the amount of retraction that there skin can deliver.  This is affected by age, skin type, skin thickness, and a variety of other factors.  This treatment is not recommended for significant sagging.

No makeup should be worn if having HIFU on the facial area.

It is important that you understand the treatment and before your treatment you will have a comprehensive consultation.

Please arrive for your treatment without makeup. At the beginning of the treatment a white pencil is used to precisely mark up the treatment area. To improve the comfort of the treatment ultra-sound gel is applied evenly over the area.

The top layer of your skin is not treated as the focussed ultrasonic energy penetrates through to the muscular level at 4.5 mm. After the treatment, you can simply go about your usual activities. The difference between HIFU and other in chair procedures is that the energy penetrates to varying preset levels – 4.5mm 3mm and 1.4mm , previously this was only achievable with surgery.

What can I expect to feel during the 3D HIFU procedure?

You may feel a little discomfort during an HIFU procedure. The energy is delivered in individual shots – and some people describe it as a pin prick feeling. Some people feel this more than others. Notably because of the precise nature of 3D Hifu it is more tolerable than the original machines.

Once the treatment is complete it is important to use a good moisturiser on the skin Whilst side effects are few the area may remain warm and red for aw few hours after the treatment. You will be given post treatment advice and it is important that you follow this in order to achieve the best results.

Post your procedure you need to ensure that you do not allow your skin to be exposed to excessive heat or cold. In addition use sun protection. You are able to apply make up directly after your treatment. Although do not apply products that contain retinols as this may cause irritation.

Tenderness, swelling and bruising can occasionally occur (although not common) in the areas treated. Bruising may not show for several days after the treatment and can appear yellow / green in colour. If bruising is to occur it is likely to be either on the jawline or the cheekbone.

Bruising does not always show – however the area may still be sensitive to touch – you may notice this when you are putting on make up or using a flannel Although this may be uncomfortable to the touch it will only be transient and will not effect drinking and eating .

History of HIFU

For decades ultrasound has been used as a diagnostic tool to help determine size, shape, and consistency of various internal structures. It has also been used for monitoring pregnancies, and with varying success to break kidney stones. However, using ultrasound for cosmetic procedures is a new and very exciting development.

The history of this exciting new development began over 14 years ago after a partnership between both Ulthera and Johnson & Johnson, to develop micro-focus ultrasound for non-invasive treatment for liver cancer. In 2004 Ulthera was established to further develop the technology for the aesthetic space and after two years of extensive pre-clinical research, Ulthera conducted 3 clinical studies to evaluate safety and efficacy of the technology. One of the studies, an efficacy study at North-western University in 2007, demonstrated a clinically significant brow lift and 89% of the patients treated and led to Ulthera’s first FDA indication.

They are without a doubt, the leading innovators of ultrasound technology for medical and aesthetic applications. After several years of pre-clinical evaluation of clinical studies, Ulthera received the first FDA (food and drug administration) clearance for a non-invasive lift indication in 2009, they approved the ultrasound device called the Ulthera Ultrasound system, designed for skin tightening treatment of the face. In 2012, the system received an FDA indication for visualization of dermal and submental tissue layers.

Most recently, the system received its 4th FDA indication of June 2014 for improvement of lines and wrinkles on the décollete. Since then, they’ve grown quickly with over 450,000 commercial procedures profound worldwide.
